For a client from the Spanish market, the engineering team Simpax has designed a braking resistor for mounting on the roof of a traction vehicle.
Braking resistor used in a light rail vehicle operating with 750VDC catenary supply. Each braking resistor enclosure contain two independent braking resistors, which are connected to individual chopper phases.
Each braking resistor module has continuous power 60kW. It works in duty cycle: 30s. operation / 90s. break and dissipate in one cycle Energy 6,5MJ.
Due to its compact design, it takes up relatively little space on the roof of the vehicle. Both - the housing and all standard (nut bolts, etc.) made of stainless steel AISI 316. The resistor meets the requirements of the following standards:

- EN61373
- EN50124-1
- EN60077
- EN60529
The resistor has passed the full range of tests according to EN60322.
